A two-day international tourism forum, Travel Hub "Commonwealth," took place in the capital of Tajikistan. The event brought together representatives from the business community, relevant government agencies, parliaments, heads of associations, and experts from CIS countries, reports the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS.

"It is gratifying to note that tourism cooperation within the CIS is steadily progressing and reaching new levels. Regular high-level events like this on the CIS platform encourage us to create joint constructive initiatives in tourism, which is a crucial area for sustainable development in our rapidly changing world," said Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, Assistant to the President of Tajikistan for Economic Affairs, during the opening ceremony.

He emphasized that Tajikistan places great importance on tourism cooperation within the CIS framework. The country is actively developing tourism infrastructure. For instance, tourism companies are exempt from income tax for their first five years of operation, and imported equipment and machinery used for tourism infrastructure projects are exempt from VAT and customs duties. Across the country, dozens of tourist complexes, parks, hotels, resorts, and other facilities are under construction.

The Secretary General of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council, Dmitry Kobitsky, also addressed the participants. He noted that the forum responds to the growing tourism flows between CIS countries. "In today's global turbulence, strengthening tourism ties and creating new routes within the CIS region are becoming even more important. Tourism can become a driving force for the development of the Commonwealth, linking government priorities, cultural needs, and business interests," he said.

The forum was organized by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
