Political relations between Iran and Tajikistan have reached a new peak, as stated by Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, reports Eurasiatoday.ru.
At the Sa'dabad Palace in Tehran, he held talks with Tajikistan's Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda. The discussions focused on bilateral cooperation and Tajikistan’s participation in a special summit of Caspian states.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Aref emphasized that the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Tajikistan confirmed the strategic course for the comprehensive development of relations between the two countries.
During this visit, which took place from January 15 to 17, 2025, 23 new cooperation agreements were signed, covering various areas of interaction.
Economic Cooperation and the Role of the Private Sector
The Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed its readiness to meet Tajikistan’s needs in various economic sectors, highlighting that the two economies can successfully complement each other.
Special attention was given to the role of the private sector in developing cooperation.
As part of President Pezeshkian’s visit to Dushanbe, a trade, investment, and tourism forum was held, resulting in the signing of 13 cooperation agreements worth more than $450 million.
Visa-Free Travel Between the Two Countries
As of February 2025, a visa-free regime is in effect between Iran and Tajikistan for citizens traveling by air.
This decision creates favorable conditions for entrepreneurs and strengthens business ties between the two nations.
Cooperation in Technical and Engineering Fields
A special focus in bilateral cooperation has been placed on collaboration in technical and engineering services.
The Islamic Republic possesses significant expertise and potential in these areas and is ready to share its knowledge with Tajik partners.
The governments of both countries intend to create favorable conditions for business, facilitating the implementation of joint projects and initiatives.
The deepening of bilateral ties reflects the commitment of both states to expanding cooperation and strengthening their partnership across key sectors.
