Islamic Development Bank to support agriculture in Uzbekistan

In the years 2024-2028, the infrastructure of rural areas in Uzbekistan will be improved in 21 districts of the Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Kashkadarya regions. For this purpose, a preferential loan of $260 million for a period of 20 years is being attracted from the Islamic Development Bank, Kun.uz reports.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution "On measures to implement the project 'Comprehensive Rural Development' (Phase 2) with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank."

As part of the project, 20 schools (19 in Samarkand), 14 kindergartens, and 10 family doctor clinics (all in Samarkand) will be built, 200 km of drinking water networks will be laid, 368 km of power lines will be installed, and 53 transformers will be set up.

Approximately 330 km of road infrastructure will be improved, with a budget of 717 billion soums or $68.5 million allocated for this purpose.
