Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are close to signing a border agreement, but two critical issues remain unresolved, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin stated during a press conference, Eurasiatoday.ru reports.

Although the state border between the two republics has been fully defined, two major issues— a road and water facilities, which have previously caused conflicts—have yet to be resolved.

"The border issue has been settled; only its formal documentation remains. Working groups meet almost every week, either here or in Kyrgyzstan. As far as we know, there are two or three important issues left that also need to be addressed," said the Tajik foreign minister.

According to him, these issues include the construction of a direct road between Vorukh and Isfara, as well as "several water facilities" that are still under negotiation, though the relevant protocol has not yet been signed.

"In addition to the border agreement, two more intergovernmental agreements—on the road and water facilities—are planned for signing," Muhriddin said.

Currently, these issues are being reviewed by the countries' working groups, which meet almost weekly in each other's territories, the Tajik foreign minister added.
