The OSCE statement criticizing the organization of the presidential elections in Kazakhstan is biased and calls into question the effectiveness of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Astana said.

According to the ODIHR, the regulatory framework in Kazakhstan does not fully comply with international standards and OSCE commitments regarding democratic elections, RIA Novosti reported.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reacted to this assessment and expressed disagreement with this opinion.

The Ministry of Kazakhstan noted that the OSCE statement contains a set of stereotyped and biased conclusions typical of the OSCE/ODIHR, as well as a complete unwillingness to perceive the development of the internal situation in Kazakhstan.

“In the activities of the OSCE/ODIHR monitoring team and its leadership, there was clearly a lack of confidence in the reforms carried out by the President of Kazakhstan aimed at transforming the country, turning it into an advanced society based on the rule of law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserts.

The ODIHR statement speaks of the lack of desire to develop cooperation with the Kazakh authorities, this will be taken into account, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry stressed.
