The Kazakhstani production of "Rose Baglanova" by the Astana Musical guest theater became the winner of the nomination "Best International Musical" at the international festival in South Korea, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the Telegram channel of Minister of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov.
Daegu International Musical Festival is a prestigious international musical competition that annually gathers theaters and creative teams from all over the world in the South Korean city of Daegu. This year it was held for the 17th time.
The team of the Astana Musical Theater took part in it for the first time, Minister Oralov said.
Actress Zarina Makina, who played the main character Roza Baglanova in the production, won the prize for best actress, beating her colleagues from England, Germany and France.
“This is a success for the entire theatrical art of Kazakhstan. The artists of Astana Musical made the world talk about our culture by demonstrating their boundless talent. The whole country is proud of this achievement,” Oralov wrote.
The artists went to South Korea with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, the minister added.
