Thanks to its strategic location, Kazakhstan seeks to establish itself as a leading trade and logistics hub in Eurasia, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated at the Kazakh-Slovenian Business Forum, according to the press service of the Kazakh president’s administration.
"Our country provides direct access to a market of more than 1.5 billion consumers within the Eurasian Economic Union, Central Asia, and China. Freight traffic through Kazakhstan reached a record 514 billion ton-kilometers last year. Currently, our country accounts for 90% of overland trade between Europe and China. We are actively developing major international transit routes, such as the Middle Corridor and North-South," Tokayev stated.
He also highlighted that Kazakhstan has one of the largest and fastest-growing economies in the region. According to him, economic growth in Kazakhstan reached 4.8% in 2024, which is 1.5 times higher than the projected global growth rate. The country's GDP reached $288 billion.
Tokayev added that the Kazakh government intends to maintain a high pace of development by implementing large-scale political and economic reforms.
Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar is currently on an official visit to Astana, where she met with Tokayev at the Kazakh president’s residence.
