Kazakhstan and IAEA clarified positions in NPP construction

Kazakh president Tokayev stressed the importance of the visit to Astana of the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi to further strengthen cooperation between Kazakhstan and the agency, the press service of Kazakh President reported.

"I am convinced that your visit is timely in terms of advancing the development of our relations. You know that work with the agency is a priority for Kazakhstan. We are very interested and highly appreciate your activities as the head of this important structure," President Tokayev said.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including the strengthening of technical cooperation and the construction of nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan.

Grossi thanked Tokayev for the warm welcome and praised the role of Kazakhstan as one of the leaders and responsible participant in the process of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

"We do a lot together in different areas. I will be very glad to exchange views with you on a wide range of issues: from healthcare to your future nuclear energy development program," the IAEA Director General said.
