Kazakhstan and Iran plan to increase trade turnover to $3 bln

The Kazakh-Iranian business forum was held in Astana with the participation of over 100 representatives of large and medium-sized companies from Kazakhstan and Iran.

At a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Trade and Market Regulation of Iran Alireza Peymanpak, it was stated that investors and producers from Iran are ready to invest in the production of medicines, the construction of a plant for the production of dairy products, processing of agricultural products and other projects in Kazakhstan.

The parties also discussed a draft joint roadmap for projects aimed at increasing mutual trade up to $3 billion.

These projects cover almost all industries, but the main pool, for about $1 billion, is projects in the agricultural sector. The products of the Kazakh agro-industrial complex are very popular with the Iranian consumer. Today, Kazakh enterprises regularly supply domestic products to the Iranian market. The main export commodities to Iran are traditionally wheat, barley, sunflower oil, flax seeds, aluminum and ferrous metals. Oil products, fresh vegetables and fruits, building materials prevail among import deliveries.
