Cerbian President Aleksandar Vučić, on an official visit to Astana, held talks with Kazakhstan's top leadership. The visit was preceded by meetings of the Kazakhstan-Serbia Business Council and a bilateral business forum, which resulted in a package of cooperation agreements in defense industry, digital technologies, and biotechnology, Kazinform reports.
The parties reached key agreements in the defense sector, with Serbian state company Yugoimport SDPR playing a central role:
- «SP Kaztechnology» LLP and Yugoimport signed a deal on the repair and modernization of 122 mm and 152 mm self-propelled artillery systems, including Nora and Soko/Soho models;
- «Great Sky» LLP and Yugoimport concluded a framework agreement on technology transfer and the local production of high-energy materials in Kazakhstan.
In the digital sector, international tech hub Astana Hub signed three memorandums: with Serbia's Digital Transformation Center, the SEE UP Accelerator, and Belgrade's Science and Technology Park. The documents outline joint support for startups and collaborative innovation projects.
The National Center for Biotechnology of Kazakhstan and Serbia's Bio4 Campus also signed a memorandum on scientific and technological cooperation. In parallel, Kazakh Invest is negotiating with Serbian pharmaceutical companies on localizing production facilities in Kazakhstan.
Serbia has additionally expressed interest in establishing joint production of baby food and fruit-based cereals with Kazakh partners.
President Aleksandar Vučić arrived in Kazakhstan on February 26 at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two-day state visit is expected to further elevate bilateral trade, investment, and strategic partnership between the two nations.
