Kazakhstan and Turkey intend to increase their trade turnover to $10 bln by 2030

The volume of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Türkiye reached $6 billion in 2023, according to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

At a meeting in Astana between President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmus, ambitious plans were outlined to increase the volume of bilateral trade to $10 billion. The negotiations took place on the eve of a significant date—the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.

The Kazakh leader noted the close ties between the leaders of the two countries: "Recently, I had a fruitful telephone conversation with my colleague Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We maintain regular contacts. The dialogue between our countries is developing very productively. Türkiye is among the five largest trading partners and the top ten investors in Kazakhstan's economy."

In turn, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmus pointed to the deep historical and spiritual ties between the peoples: "Kazakhstan is the land of our ancestors, the homeland of the great Khoja Ahmed Yasawi—the spiritual mentor uniting the entire Turkic world. Tomorrow we will visit the sacred sites in Turkestan and hold a conference at the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University."

It was emphasized that Kazakhstan and Türkiye have significant potential for further expanding mutually beneficial relations in key areas such as trade, technology, industry, logistics, energy, and agriculture.

Both sides expressed their firm commitment to utilizing the available opportunities to deepen multifaceted cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.

It was previously reported that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan aim to increase their mutual trade to $10 billion by 2030.

Trade and Economic Relations Between Kazakhstan and Türkiye

- Trade turnover: In 2023, the trade turnover between the countries reached $6.3 billion, demonstrating a 3.4-fold increase since 2010.
- Export: Kazakhstan primarily exports raw materials to Türkiye, such as oil, petroleum products, and metals (copper, zinc, aluminum).
- Import: Kazakhstan imports light industry goods (clothing, textiles) and machinery products from Türkiye.
- Investments: Turkish investments in Kazakhstan from 2005 to 2022 amounted to $4.6 billion, peaking at $688.1 million in 2021.
