Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov met with U.S. Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the U.S. Energy Dominance Council Doug Burgum on the sidelines of the ADIPEC-2025 International Energy Forum in the UAE, Kazinform reports. The parties discussed ways to strengthen their more than 30 years of successful cooperation in the energy sector.

Minister Akkenzhenov noted that American companies were among the first to invest in Kazakhstan, recognizing its potential early on. Today, they remain key partners in the country’s flagship oil and gas projects — Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan.

“The projects implemented in Kazakhstan are key assets in the global portfolios of our American partners. Their scale underscores Kazakhstan’s strategic importance for global energy stability and demonstrates the success of our mutually beneficial partnership,” Akkenzhenov emphasized.

Discussions focused on large-scale joint projects, further development of oil fields, and ensuring stable oil transportation, particularly through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) — the main export route for Kazakh crude.

Doug Burgum, for his part, praised Kazakhstan’s favorable investment climate, highlighting the long-term success of major U.S. oil and gas companies in the country as a clear example. He also expressed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in energy sector digitalization and technological innovation.
