Kazakhstan set a record in 2024 by exporting 13.2 million tons of oil, according to information released by KazMunayGas, the company’s press service reports.

The increase in transportation volumes was driven by higher oil shipments from the Tengiz and Karazhanbas fields to the Caspian Basin. The report also highlights that hydrocarbon transportation through the Black Sea contributed to the overall growth. The transportation of Kazakh oil by sea is carried out by Kazmortransflot (KMTF).

"Since the beginning of KMTF tanker operations, the total volume of transported oil has exceeded 170 million tons," the company stated.

In 2023, Kazmortransflot transported only 10.8 million tons.

A positive trend is also observed in container transportation. Container shipping also showed positive growth in 2024. For example, on the Aktau–Baku–Aktau route, launched in 2019, Kazmortransflot transported 51.4 thousand twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), accounting for 94% of the total volume of 55 thousand TEUs.
