Kazakhstan is exploring the possibility of increasing its oil exports through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline to 20 million tons per year, Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev stated, Sputnik Azerbaijan reports.
He noted that in 2024, the volume of Kazakh oil transported via the BTC pipeline is expected to reach 1.5 million tons.
"The prospects of increasing supplies along this route to volumes of up to 20 million tons per year are being studied," Satkaliyev emphasized.
If these plans are realized, the transportation of Kazakh oil through the BTC pipeline would increase by 13.3 times.
According to the minister, the BTC route is a promising direction for both Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, as both countries are interested in boosting the volume of oil supplies through this pipeline.
Additionally, Kazakhstan is considering the potential use of the Baku-Supsa pipeline, which has a capacity of 5 million tons per year.
