The state bodies of Kazakhstan, including the Prosecutor General's Office, are working out legal grounds to prevent the distribution of ethnopoliticized symbols through trade networks. Such a conclusion follows from the words of Kuat Bapinov, prosecutor of the Public Interest Protection Department of the Prosecutor's Office of the city of Semey, reports Ritmeurasia.org.
“As practice shows, individual representatives of different ethnic groups demonstrate various ethnic symbols in the public field, including those associated with the countries of their historical origin, etc.,” Bapinov said. – So, in 2022, in connection with the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in Kazakhstan, the facts of demonstrations became more frequent, in particular, on clothes, toys, vehicles, symbols “Z” or “V”. There are facts of sale and advertising in retail chains of toy children's products under various names, in particular, "Army of Russia", "Polite People", etc., which caused an ambiguous reaction in society. In this regard, the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan this year sent a proposal to the Government of the country on a legislative ban and establishment of administrative responsibility for the manufacture, storage, import, transportation and distribution to the country of paraphernalia, symbols, signs used by the warring parties in armed conflicts, in military or other violent actions against the sovereignty and political regime of another state”.
It is proposed to legally prohibit the sale of ethnopoliticized symbols/products prohibited for distribution and use on the territory of Kazakhstan, by entrusting state control to the authorized body - the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan.
And in anticipation of the relevant amendments, the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Abai region, together with the city prosecutor's office and the district police inspector, carried out explanatory work with entrepreneurs to prevent the distribution of such symbols through retail chains.
