According to UN Women in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan is a leader in the field of gender equality among the countries of Central Asia, said head of the Ministry of Information and Social Development (MISD) of Kazakhstan Darkhan Kydyrali, Kazpravda.kz reports.
“Moving up 15 positions out of 146 countries, Kazakhstan ranked 65th in the 2022 Global Gender Gap Index. The country is seeing a decrease in the gender gap in education, improvement in economic opportunities and wage equality, and an increase in the proportion of women in leadership positions,” Kydyraly said.
At the solemn meeting dedicated to International Women's Day, Minister Kydyraly presented Letters of Gratitude on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan to women who have made a significant contribution to the development of the media sphere and civil society, and noted a number of representatives of the media and public institutions with Letters of Gratitude from the Ministry.
“President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev puts the expansion of economic and political opportunities for women in society as one of the priorities of the state. Today, women are productively working in the media sector: they run TV channels, newspapers, magazines and news agencies. A considerable number of our beautiful ladies are actively involved in the socio-political life of the country. This, in turn, clearly proves the increased role and influence of women in our country in the socio-economic life of the state,” said Darkhan Kydyrali.
The minister also stressed that, according to the UN Women in Kazakhstan, our republic is a leader in the field of gender equality among the countries of Central Asia.
