Kyrgyzstan blocked access to the TikTok platform a week ago.
The basis for this decision was the social network’s failure to comply with the law “On measures to prevent harm to the health of children, their physical, intellectual, mental, spiritual and moral development in the Kyrgyz Republic,” according to which the types and information that are harmful to the health and development of children are defined .
Now they are talking about blocking TikTok in Kazakhstan. The Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Aida Balaeva, said that illegal content was being distributed there, Eurasia Today reports.
“The amount of illegal content on social networks is growing. The global trend is underway, many countries are forced to abandon some social networks,” she said in a conversation with Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In response to a request from journalists to clarify which social networks we are talking about, Balaeva stated that “this is TikTok.”
“In my opinion, as a minister, I say this issue needs to be looked at,” she said.
The minister admitted that many people may not like this measure. Nevertheless, the tasks of the state include maintaining stability and unity, Balaeva emphasized.
