Kazakhstan may introduce ban on import of wheat

It is planned to introduce a ban on the import of wheat by road and rail transport in Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports.

The corresponding order of the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan on the introduction of a ban on the import of wheat into the country by road and rail is posted on the portal Open legal acts, the Portal is intended for the publication of draft laws and public discussion by users in Kazakhstan.

“Introduce a ban for a period of six months on the import of wheat: into the territory of Kazakhstan by road from third countries and from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union; to the territory of Kazakhstan by rail from third countries and from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, with the exception of the import of wheat by rail to licensed elevators, grain processors, poultry enterprises,” the document says.

This Order shall enter into force from the date of its first official publication.

The draft order will be under public discussion until September 4. Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan is losing traditional markets for grain.
