Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has called for the removal of hidden barriers hindering the free movement of goods and capital within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Kazakh government’s press service reported.

Speaking at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Bektenov noted that despite economic growth — the combined GDP of EAEU member states rose by 2% in the first quarter of 2025 and industrial production by 1.6% — complex sanitary, veterinary, and customs procedures continue to slow integration.

He pointed out that Kazakhstan’s industrial output grew by 6.4% during the same period, stressing the need to ensure equal market access for suppliers across all EAEU countries. Bektenov urged consistent efforts to eliminate trade restrictions and barriers.
