Kazakhstan ready to expand strategic cooperation in gas industry with Turkmenistan

The Chairman of the Board of the national company of Kazakhstan, QazaqGaz, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, held negotiations with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Batyr Amanov, and the Chairman of the State Concern "TurkmenGaz," Maksat Babaev, in Ashgabat, Orient.tm reports.

The parties discussed plans to strengthen fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the gas industry. In particular, they noted mutual interest in joint development of production assets, implementation of gas pipeline projects in the territories of both countries, and gas supplies on a mutually beneficial basis.

Following the meetings, the parties expressed readiness to cooperate in expanding strategic cooperation in the gas industry.

Earlier, it was reported that the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Almasadam Satkaliyev, stated that the country is "ready to consider proposals from our Turkmen colleagues both for gas and electricity, depending on the commercial attractiveness for our consumers."

In early March, Turkmenistan expressed its intention to supply natural gas and electricity to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.

And Kazakhstan announced about intention to receive gas from Russia for its needs.
