Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan convened the 5th session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Kazakhstan and Turkey, Kazinform reports.

During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized that Kazakh-Turkish relations, rooted in shared historical and spiritual values, are steadily progressing within the framework of an expanded strategic partnership.

“We are committed to continuing this path and elevating our relations to a higher level. Mr. President, I highly value the outcome of the one-on-one talks we just held. We reaffirmed our mutual commitment to expanding cooperation. We have the capacity and enthusiasm to do so. There is a robust legal framework between our two countries, with more than 60 treaties and agreements currently in effect. Today, several new bilateral agreements will also be signed,” said Tokayev.

The session focused on enhancing mutual trade. Last year, bilateral trade volume reached $5 billion. President Tokayev announced that Kazakhstan is ready to export at least 34 types of products worth a total of $1 billion to the Turkish market. He also emphasized the need to diversify and expand the range of Turkish goods imported into Kazakhstan.

Both sides highlighted the strategic importance of the transport and logistics sector in boosting trade. Tokayev stressed Kazakhstan’s strong interest in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and expressed readiness to attract Turkish investments in modern railway infrastructure, dry ports, cargo terminals, and shipbuilding.

President Tokayev arrived in Turkey for an official visit on July 28. He was welcomed at Ankara’s Esenboğa International Airport by President Erdoğan.

The two leaders briefly spoke at the airport before traveling together to the city center in the same vehicle.
