Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy announced the launch of the Second Generation Plant (SGP) and the commencement of crude production at the Korolevskoye field following a major shutdown, Forves.kz reports.

According to official ministry data, operations at the world's largest oil processing line resumed at 4:00 a.m. on January 26, Astana time. Currently, crude flow from the Korolevskoye field to the SGP is 2,500 tons per day. Specialists are systematically increasing the multiphase flow to fill the system and gradually ramp up the facility to its design capacity.

Despite the success at the Korolev block, production at the main Tengiz field remains suspended. The Ministry of Energy reported that full resource mobilization has been declared at the facility. Staff are currently conducting intensive checks of the power systems and final technical tests. Although the safe launch of the power supply system has already been confirmed, production is expected to resume shortly after all safety checks are completed.

The project operator, Tengizchevroil (TCO), has been tasked with maximizing the restoration of the production cycle. Production volumes will be ramped up in stages, strictly adhering to industrial health and safety (HSE) protocols.

A complete shutdown of production at Tengiz occurred on January 18 due to a fire at a power unit. The incident triggered a temporary reduction in crude exports via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). A special commission is currently investigating the causes of the incident, and the restoration of production is being closely monitored by the leadership of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
