As part of the work to return assets illegally withdrawn from the country, Kazakhstan was able to get back assets worth 658 billion tenge or $1.46 billion, Kanat Suleimenov, head of the pre-trial investigation service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, said during an off-site meeting at the Economic Investigation Department of Almaty, the portal LS reports.
This amount includes cash, office buildings, houses, land, cars, currency in foreign banks.
"In the country, as well as abroad, additional real estate, cars and funds totaling over 340 billion tenge have been installed and will soon be returned to the state," Suleimenov's portal quotes.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Zhenis Yelemesov, reporting on the work done, said that from the beginning of 2022 to the present, 81 pre-trial investigations have been launched against 11 criminal groups with damages of over 450 billion tenge. The state was reimbursed 22.8 billion tenge.
To date, 77 pre-trial investigations have been completed in relation to nine groups with damage of 344 billion tenge.
