The capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) has increased to 6 million tons per year, including 100,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in container transportation, the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan reports.

From January to November this year, cargo transportation via TITR increased by 63%, reaching 4.1 million tons. Container transportation grew 2.6 times, totaling 50,500 TEUs.

In 2024, a coordination center was launched to develop infrastructure and enhance the route’s competitiveness.

A container hub with a capacity of 300,000 TEUs per year is currently under construction at the Aktau port. Meanwhile, new grain and multifunctional terminals are being built at the Kuryk port. Once operational, the throughput capacity of Kazakhstan’s ports will increase to 30 million tons annually.

The project is actively supported by key countries and companies, reducing delivery times between Europe and Asia to 15 days.
