Since 2022, 29 contracts have been terminated in Kazakhstan, and in nine of them, outstanding debts totaling 1.9 billion tenge have been repaid, announced Almasadam Satkaliyev, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan.
The returned subsoil plots are being put up for auction to attract investments. It is expected that this will allow the rapid development of the fields for industrial use. According to the minister, in July, another electronic auction was held where they sold 11 subsoil plots with a signing bonus payment amounting to 3.4 billion tenge. Out of these, 7 were for exploration and production, and 4 were for production. "The declared investments in geological exploration amounted to $35 million," stated Satkaliyev, the LS portal reports.
Before the end of this year, the Kazakh authorities intend to hold two more electronic auctions. In particular, in October 2023, they plan to offer investors 11 plots. Among these, nine are for exploration and production, and two are for production. Satkaliyev added that the initial signing bonus is 456 million tenge, and the declared investments in geological exploration are $42.5 million.
