Kazakhstan intends to improve the environmental situation in the Aral Sea Basin jointly with Uzbekistan, as stated in the bill "On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation in the Field of Ecology and Environmental Protection," approved by the deputies of the Majilis (lower house of the Kazakh parliament), Zakon.kz reports.
Presenting the bill, Majilis deputy Edil Zhanbyrshin, in particular, said, "Cooperation will be carried out in the following main directions: firstly, prevention and control of air and water pollution, management of solid household waste, conservation of biodiversity, development of joint activities to improve the environmental situation in the Aral Sea Basin, environmental monitoring, establishment of joint educational institutions, personnel training, and the parties will also take all necessary measures to prevent emergencies damaging the environment."
According to the deputy, a special commission will be created between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
