Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan have agreed to create a joint venture for the export of electricity from Central Asian countries to Europe, reports the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.

The first meeting of energy ministers from Central Asian countries took place in Astana, with representatives from Azerbaijan, including Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov, participating. During the event, a trilateral meeting was held to discuss the project of unifying the energy systems of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.

The parties discussed the creation of a green energy corridor "Central Asia-Azerbaijan-Europe" and the next steps needed to implement the project.

“A project agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and transmission of green energy has been agreed upon between the three countries. The Terms of Reference for the preliminary feasibility study of the project have been approved. The Italian company CESi has been selected to develop the feasibility study, and an agreement has been reached to create a joint venture with the participation of national energy companies,” the statement said.

Representatives of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan signed a protocol of the trilateral meeting on the project of unifying the energy systems of the three countries.
