Kazakhstan trades within EAEU more with Kyrgyzstan than with Belarus

Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) member states grew by 5.6% from January to July 2023. However, the majority of this volume is attributed to one country, Zakon.kz reports.

From January to July 2023, Kazakhstan's trade volume with the EAEU amounted to $16,521.5 million, which is 5.6% higher than the same period last year, according to the report from Kazakhstan's National Statistics Bureau.

Exports increased by 32.3% to $6,380.4 million, while imports decreased by 6.3% to $10,141.1 million. Notably, in the total foreign trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EAEU, 92% of the trade volume is accounted for by Russia. Kyrgyzstan comes in second place with a significant gap (4.6%), followed by Belarus (3.3%) and Armenia (0.1%).

"The largest share of exports to EAEU countries consists of machinery, equipment, transport vehicles, instruments, and apparatus - 28.5%, followed by products from chemical and related industries - 24.5%. In the structure of imports from EAEU countries, products of animal and vegetable origin, ready-made food products - 19.9%, metals and products thereof - 19.1% predominate," as specified by the National Statistics Bureau.
