The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has issued a statement regarding the armed confrontation between Hamas and Israel, Zakon.kz reports.

"Kazakhstan condemns Hamas' attacks on the civilian population of Israel and the taking of hostages, including foreigners. We support the call of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the immediate and unconditional release of hostages and ensuring unimpeded access to humanitarian assistance," the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, published on October 17, 2023, in the ministry's Telegram channel, reads.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan also recalled a recent statement made by the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during his speech at the CIS Summit in Bishkek: "One cannot resort to terrorist acts to address issues that have remained unresolved for decades. This cannot be justified in any way."

"Kazakhstan also calls on Israel to refrain from disproportionate use of force that leads to numerous casualties among the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and the destruction of civilian infrastructure," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan stated.

In this situation, as believed by the country's foreign policy department, "it is of utmost importance to observe the norms of international law and adhere to relevant UN Security Council resolutions, providing for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."

"Violence begets reciprocal violence and will inevitably lead to tragic consequences for the Middle East and the entire world," the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan states.

The department also noted that "Kazakhstan expresses solidarity with the international community, calling for the removal of established timeframes for the evacuation of Gaza residents and ensuring the full protection of civilians, who should not be held hostage to the conflict."

"In this regard, Kazakhstan calls on the parties to ensure an immediate cessation of hostilities and to intensify efforts to achieve peace, stability, and security for all the residents of the region based on the 'two states for two peoples' formula," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan declared.
