Kazakhstani Aisultan Seitov won the Best Director nomination at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival. The award was given for his debut film "Kash". He announced this on his instagram page.
The Chinese award is called the Golden Goblet Awards Asian New Talent. Directors with debut films are nominated for it.
The picture was also presented in the nominations "Best Film" and "Best Screenwriter".
The film "Kash" was released in 2022 after two years of production. The film shows the famine of the 1930s in Kazakhstan, as a result of which 70% of the population died.
The young director Aisultan Seitov graduated from the New York Film Academy in the USA and worked as a music video director. The coolest case in his portfolio is working with rapper Kanye West. To reach the biggest American stars, work with Kanye, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Offset, 21 Savage, J Cole, shoot commercials for Sprite, Nike, Yves Saint Laurent and give interviews to Dudya, Seitov released dozens of clips, he collaborated with Galymzhan Moldanazar, Scryptonite, Ivan Dorn, with such musicians as Jah Khalib, L'One, Noize MC, Eljey and others.
