Kazakhstani ready to invest large sum in economy of Kyrgyzstan

In 2023, the sum of Kazakhstani investments in the Kyrgyz economy reached $55 million. The total volume of Kazakhstan's investments directed to Kyrgyzstan exceeded $1.3 billion, the Kazinform agency reports, following the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtle, to Kyrgyzstan.

"Kazakhstan is the third-largest trading partner for Kyrgyzstan. By the instructions of the heads of states, we plan to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion. Kyrgyzstan is one of the main trading partners for Kazakhstan within the CIS and EAEU. We see good prospects and are ready to increase exports to Kyrgyzstan by another $260 million across 200 product positions in the food, industrial, petrochemical, construction, and pharmaceutical sectors," quoted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan by Kazinform.

He mentioned that this year, one of the main Kazakhstani investors is prepared to invest $70 million in joint projects. However, the details of this investor are not specified.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan added that during the visit to Bishkek, regional issues were discussed, where the positions of the parties coincided.

Following the negotiations, a cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for 2024-2026 was signed.
