According to the Bureau of National Statistics, monthly inflation in Kazakhstan in September 2026 remained at the August level, amounting to 0.6%. In annual terms, the rate slowed to 9.3% compared to 9.8% the previous month, Zakon.kz reported.

The key factor in containing prices was the seasonal decline in fruit and vegetable prices: onions fell by 20.7%, carrots by 13.6%, potatoes by 13.4%, and cabbage by 10.1%. In the non-food segment, prices for household appliances and vehicles decreased (car prices fell by 11.3% year-on-year).

In the annual structure, the largest growth was in non-food products (+11.0%) and paid services (+8.9%), while the food sector showed a moderate increase of 8.5%.

The slowdown in annual inflation to below 10% indicates a gradual stabilization of the macroeconomic situation in Kazakhstan. Lower prices for vegetables and sugar reflect the seasonal effect of the harvesting campaign and expanding domestic supply. Lower prices for imported consumer goods and electronics indicate improved supply chains and a balanced foreign exchange market.

However, continued price increases for paid services and non-food items require the National Bank to continue its prudent monetary policy to consolidate the downward trend.
