Kyrgyzstan has achieved significant milestones in the CASA-1000 project, the press service of the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan reports
In February 2021, Kyrgyzstan announced the commencement of construction of power transmission lines as part of the CASA-1000 project. Initially, the work began in the Batken region, followed by the Osh and Jalal-Abad regions.
CASA-1000 aims to connect the energy systems of Central Asia with South Asia, linking Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with Afghanistan and Pakistan, and establishing mechanisms for electricity trading in line with international standards. As of now, the following key stages have been successfully completed:
- Installation of access roads to the pylons — 100%.
- Excavation of pits — 100%.
- Concrete pouring for 1,243 pylons' foundations — 100%.
- Full assembly of all pylons and suspension of wires along 287.45 kilometers (63%).
The CASA-1000 project is designed to strengthen energy connections between Central Asia and South Asia by uniting Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with Afghanistan and Pakistan. This opens up new prospects for electricity trade in accordance with international standards and contributes to stability and sustainability in the region.
Kyrgyzstan announced the start of construction of power transmission lines as part of the CASA-1000 project in February 2021. Construction work is being carried out in the Batken, Osh, and Jalal-Abad regions.
