The US Department of State is well aware "that Kazakhstan and its President are in a unique and challenging situation," said US Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum, Zakon.kz reports.
"The country does not choose its location, and Kazakhstan has to be very balanced in its policy, in its decisions. All our work, negotiations, of course, come with the fact that we understand what situation is in Kazakhstan, but we also know about our common goals. We both share an interest in the stability of the region and also in peaceful solutions," Rosenblum said.
The ambassador stressed that "nothing good will come from an unstable situation and chaos."
"At the same time, we have a common interest in the sovereignty and independence of Kazakhstan," the American diplomat said.
He noted that in his work, President Tokayev identified two priorities - "these are foreign policy and support for sovereignty and independence."
"President Tokayev made it clear that Kazakhstan is committed to the principles of the UN charter. Of course, at the moment some countries do not take into account this charter, but we think that the United States and Kazakhstan together will support the principles of this charter," says Rosenblum.
