Kumtor leads rating of enterprises in real sector of Kyrgyz economy

The comprehensive rating of enterprises in the real sector of the economy of Kyrgyzstan based on profitability is topped by the gold mining company Kumtor. This information is provided by the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, relying on data from 2022.

The Statistical Committee analyzed and compared data from over 23.7 thousand enterprises operating in the real sector of Kyrgyzstan's economy.

The main criteria used to compile the rating include: number of employees, revenue from sales of products, goods, works, and services, gross income, profit or loss from operating activities, net financial result (profit minus loss).

As a result, the gold mining company "Kumtor Gold Company" took the lead in the rating. In second place is the "Manas International Airport." Subsequent positions were taken by the Kyrgyz-Chinese gold mining company "Altynken," "Alliance Altyn," and "Nur Telecom."

The Kumtor company was part of the Canadian company Centerra and was nationalized by Kyrgyzstan in 2021.

Kumtor mines gold at an altitude of over 4,000 meters. On average, the annual gold production volume was 12-16 tons.
