In 2024, enterprises in Kyrgyzstan earned a total profit of 301.5 billion soms (about $3.45 billion), marking a 1.7-fold increase compared to the previous year, according to a report from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, cited by 24.kg.
The real sector of the economy — companies engaged in the production of goods and the provision of services — made the largest contribution to this growth. Their total profit amounted to 216.1 billion soms, or 71.7% of the overall figure. The most notable increases were observed in trade (both wholesale and retail), as well as in the metallurgy and scientific and technical services sectors.
Financial institutions, including banks, microcredit companies, insurance, and investment structures, ranked second in terms of profit volume, generating a combined 85.4 billion soms (28.3%).
However, not all enterprises ended the year successfully. According to the National Statistical Committee, 36% of companies reported profits, while 17% operated at a loss. The highest concentration of unprofitable enterprises was found in the construction and agriculture sectors, where costs often exceed revenues.
Analysts note that the profit surge in 2024 was largely driven by increased trade activity and expansion in raw material extraction. Nevertheless, experts emphasize that ensuring the long-term stability of the national economy will require new investments, the development of a secondary stock market, and greater transparency for foreign investors.
