Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry listed key issues for period of CSTO chairmanship

Kyrgyzstan, ahead of its chairmanship in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), has studied the international agenda and identified several areas of focus for its tenure, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev stated in an interview with the magazine Allies. CSTO.

Kulubaev emphasized that chairing the CSTO is an important and responsible mission. According to him, Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening the role and authority of the CSTO in the region and on the international stage and will work to enhance cooperation within the organization during its chairmanship.

Kulubaev outlined the key priorities for Bishkek during its CSTO chairmanship. One of them is foreign policy coordination, aimed at demonstrating common views and approaches to pressing regional security issues.

Bishkek will also focus on developing peacekeeping efforts and improving the effectiveness of military-economic cooperation.

"As part of its chairmanship, Kyrgyzstan will take steps to advance the peacekeeping track by intensifying the activities of the CSTO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Peacekeeping Affairs," Kulubaev stated.

He added that in response to modern challenges and threats, Kyrgyzstan will actively promote cooperation in preventing and countering the use of information technologies for terrorist and extremist purposes.
