Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan plan to increase trade turnover to $3 bln

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, during his participation in the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, 24.kg reports.

At the meeting, Japarov noted that there has been active interaction in Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations since the beginning of the year.

"On April 9, during your working visit to Bishkek, we held thorough negotiations on the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, and on April 18-19, President Sadyr Japarov’s official visit to Kazakhstan, as well as the 6th session of the Supreme Interstate Council, were successfully conducted," he said.

The head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet noted that to achieve the goals set by the heads of the two states, the parties should make maximum efforts to promptly implement the existing investment and other projects between the countries.

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted that an important strategic component of the relationship is the trade and economic vector.

"We must maintain this positive dynamic and intensify efforts to achieve the new goal set by the heads of state - to increase trade turnover to $3 billion."

At the end of the meeting, Akylbek Japarov invited Bektenov to participate in the International Energy Investment Forum, which will be held on June 10-11 in Vienna with the support of the World Bank and the assistance of the Austrian government.

The parties expressed confidence in the further progressive development of the partnership in the spirit of strategic cooperation and alliance between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
