In Bishkek, as part of the official visit of the President of Tajikistan, a ceremony was held for signing bilateral agreements. Following the negotiations, agreements were reached in the areas of trade, economy, agriculture, industry, customs control, youth policy, culture, construction, finance, and security, reports Akchabar.kg.
During the state visit of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, announced the signing of the treaty on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. He called it a historic document that establishes the border between the two countries “once and forever” as a symbol of friendship and good neighborliness.
"We have reaffirmed our determination to take the necessary measures to comprehensively strengthen friendship and good neighborly relations between our countries," Japarov emphasized.
Intergovernmental Council and Trade-Economic Relations
To improve cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, it was decided to transform the intergovernmental commission into the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council, which will now be headed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan.
President Japarov added that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries would reach a new level:
"Necessary measures will be taken to ensure qualitative economic ties, which will allow us to achieve a significant breakthrough."
As part of the visit, an agreement was signed on the construction and use of highways, as well as a treaty on access to water management and energy facilities.
Resumption of Air and Bus Routes
Sadyr Japarov expressed satisfaction with the resumption of air travel between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and expressed hope for the soon restoration of bus routes.
"I hope that our citizens will soon be able to move freely and communicate with each other again," he stated.
Humanitarian Cooperation and Support for Ethnic Communities
The President of Kyrgyzstan emphasized the importance of preserving the ethnic and linguistic identity of Kyrgyz people in Tajikistan and Tajik people in Kyrgyzstan. He assured that national cultural centers and public associations would be supported to help preserve their native language, culture, traditions, and customs.
Japarov also stressed the need to expand cooperation in culture, education, science, tourism, and healthcare, as well as to strengthen exchanges between mass media, research institutions, and creative organizations.

"I would like to note with great satisfaction the historic results of this state visit," Japarov concluded. He expressed confidence that the agreements reached would open a new chapter in Kyrgyz-Tajik relations and elevate them to a qualitatively new level.
