Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will conduct testing of the work completed as part of the CASA-1000 project before its full launch, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy announced.

The trial run was discussed by Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, and Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, during negotiations about the current progress on the CASA-1000 project.

This project, which will connect the energy systems of Central and South Asia, is expected to launch by the end of 2024.

Currently, Kyrgyzstan is continuing the construction of 456 km of 500 kV transmission lines, including the completion of pole installation and laying of 428 km of the line. Construction work is expected to be completed by the end of August 2024.

The ministers agreed to test the overhead lines, transformers, and substations between the two countries. After thorough inspection and resolution of any potential issues, the CASA-1000 project will be fully launched.
