Kyrgyzstan and UAE agreed to speed up construction of solar power plant

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan and the UAE have agreed to accelerate the construction of a solar power station in Kyrgyzstan by the company Masdar, Economist.kg reports.

This was announced after a meeting of the authorities of two country within the framework of the global forum "Sustainable Transport: Working Together for Global Development," which took place in Beijing. The meeting involved Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev and the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohammed Al-Mazroui.

The parties discussed the possibility of expanding bilateral cooperation in the implementation of energy sector projects and agreed to intensify their efforts in this direction.

In December 2022, the UAE-based company Masdar and the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement for the construction of a 200 MW solar power station. The implementation of the agreement was initially planned to begin in June 2023, with construction scheduled for completion by 2025.

However, the location of the power station has not been finalized yet.
