Kyrgyzstan and UAE discussed ways to expand cooperation in energy sector

In Dubai, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE, Suhail Al-Mazroui, discussed matters related to enhancing cooperation, particularly in trade, economic, investment, and energy sectors, the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

President Japarov arrived in the UAE to participate in the High-Level Segment of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

During the negotiations, Japarov noted that the UAE has advanced experience and initiatives in combating climate change and expressed confidence that the issues raised at the summit will yield results soon. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the UAE.

According to the President of Kyrgyzstan, signing a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, the company "Masdar," and the French company "Electricite de France" will open interesting prospects for collaboration in the hydropower sector.

President Japarov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan possesses significant energy potential, but currently, only 13% of the hydropower potential is exploited. In this regard, he highlighted the necessity of widely adopting green technologies and promoting the use and development of renewable energy sources.

In turn, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE, Suhail Al-Mazroui, delved into the issues related to the implementation of joint projects in energy, hydropower, and the development of renewable energy sources, particularly with the company "Masdar."

Suhail Al-Mazroui expressed confidence that the project will be successful and will bring substantial investments to Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, he indicated the readiness of the Dubai side to share its experience in the energy sector and provide necessary consultations.

He emphasized the interest in implementing the outlined plans within the signed Memorandum with the Kyrgyz side in the shortest possible time. The Minister added that he personally would oversee the progress of the projects.

In conclusion, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Al-Mazroui, highlighted his country's commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Kyrgyzstan across a wide spectrum of areas.
