Kyrgyzstan continues to attract investments in construction of Kambarata HPP-1

During his visit to Washington, Adylbek Kasymaliev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, held several meetings with regional directors of the World Bank, focusing on the strategic project of constructing the Kambarata-1 Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), according to the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers.

In the first meeting with Asad Alam, Regional Director for Equitable Growth, Finance, and Institutions for Europe and Central Asia, they discussed key aspects of the project's implementation. Alam expressed support for the project, highlighting its potential to strengthen regional integration. He emphasized that the cross-border nature of the project would unlock new opportunities for water use throughout the region and promote sustainable development in Central Asia.

Next, Kasymaliev met with Charles Cormier, Regional Director for Infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia. Kasymaliev stressed the need for a comprehensive infrastructure development approach to ensure not only energy security but also socio-economic progress in the region. Cormier noted that the World Bank is ready to support Kyrgyzstan in this significant initiative. He underscored that Kambarata-1 HPP could serve as a model for other regional countries, demonstrating effective water resource management to achieve sustainable growth.
