From 1990 to 2022, the value of Kyrgyzstan's Human Development Index (HDI) changed from 0.637 to 0.701, indicating a growth of 10%. This is according to UN data on country rankings, Akchabar reports.

The HDI value of Kyrgyzstan in 2022, at 0.701, places the country in the category of high human development, ranking 117th out of 193 countries. However, within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russia holds the highest position (56th in the ranking), followed by Kazakhstan (67th), Belarus (69th), and Armenia (76th).

From 1990 to 2022, Kyrgyzstan has seen an increase in life expectancy by 6.2 years and improvements in education indicators: expected years of schooling increased by 1.1 years, and mean years of schooling increased by 2.8 years. These changes reflect improvements in the country's healthcare and education systems.

However, Gross National Product (GNP) per capita for the same period showed a decrease of 7.3%, indicating the economic challenges Kyrgyzstan has faced in recent decades. Despite progress in social sectors, the country needs to focus efforts on strengthening economic growth.

As noted during a briefing by a high-ranking official from the administration of the President of Kyrgyzstan, demands regarding the HDI will only increase. Given that many countries have improved their rankings, entering the group of highly developed countries will not be easy.

"Work in this direction will also continue, but it is important to establish cooperation between our statisticians and international organizations. As it turned out, our statistical agencies do not work well with international organizations," noted the high-ranking official from the administration of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
