The trade turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Arab Emirates in 2022 amounted to $125 million, which is 80% more than for the same period in 2021. This became known during the Kyrgyzstan-UAE business forum in Bishkek, the Akchabar portal reports.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan to the UAE in 2022 amounted to $101 million, which is 84% more than in the same period in 2021.
Imports of products from the United Arab Emirates to Kyrgyzstan in 2022 amounted to $25 million (+66% by 2021).
During the visit of Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov to the UAE at the end of 2022, it was announced that a coastal plot of land in the Persian Gulf would be allocated to Kyrgyzstan for the construction of a seaport for Kyrgyzstan. A participant in the business forum, Chief Inspector of the Department of Customs Procedures of Kyrgyzstan Adilet Ashimov said that the republic intends to become a logistics hub for Central Asia and enter the Persian Gulf.
“Last year, a trilateral agreement was signed on the construction of the China-Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan railway. The construction of this road is of great importance to us. After all, this will involve attracting investors to Kyrgyzstan, including with a focus on foreign markets,” Ashimov said.
This may really be of interest to investors, because the requirements for exports in Kyrgyzstan are minimal, and there are also green corridors, which are expected, Kyrgyz experts say.
