The public debt of Kyrgyzstan at the end of March 2023 rose to $5.62 billion, an increase of $24.25 million compared to the previous month, Akchabar reported citing data from the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan.
The increase was driven by growth in both domestic and external debt, with the latter rising by $16.72 million.
The largest increase was in the obligations of Kyrgyzstan to the International Development Association (IDA) - $13.41 million, followed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) - $10.03 million and the International Monetary Fund - $5.77 million.
At the same time, there was a decrease in external debt, most of all to China by $24.5 million and the EFSD by $2.29 million.
The growth of domestic debt is fully secured by an increase in borrowings from government treasury bonds.
