A memorandum of cooperation and mutual understanding aimed at strengthening biological security in Central Asia has been signed. This was reported on the website of the National Scientific Center for Particularly Dangerous Infections of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, Eurasiatoday.ru reports.
This collaboration will create new opportunities for joint scientific research.
The memorandum covers four key areas of interaction, focusing on enhancing biosecurity and biosafety between the two countries, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Efforts in this direction will be concentrated on improving methods to combat the spread of dangerous infectious diseases such as plague, anthrax, cholera, and other ailments threatening both the population and the ecosystems of the region.
Kyrgyz infectious disease specialists noted that they would gain access to Kazakhstan's advanced technologies, enabling more effective responses to biological threats.
It is also worth mentioning that in the summer, a delegation from Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Health and Jogorku Kenesh visited the Aikimbayev National Scientific Center for Particularly Dangerous Infections in Kazakhstan.
Previously, Nurbolot Usenbayev, Deputy Director of the Center for Quarantine and Particularly Dangerous Infections of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, announced the completion of the design for a biolab that Russia plans to build. If the project is approved by the end of November, construction could begin in 2025.
