Kyrgyzstan only one in EAEU to end 2023 with surplus

According to the results of 2023, the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union reported that the expenditures of the republican budgets exceeded the revenues, and only Kyrgyzstan executed its budget with a surplus. In Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Russia, the republican budgets were executed with a deficit. In comparison with 2022, the budget deficit increased in Armenia (by 5.2%) and Kazakhstan (by 30.5%), while it decreased in Russia (by 2%).

Kyrgyzstan achieved a surplus of 13.54 billion soms in its republican budget. Initially, the budget deficit for 2023 was expected to be 21.26 billion soms, but later the forecast was revised, and the figure was reduced by 12.2 billion soms, as reported by Akchabar. External and internal sources were planned to cover the deficit. However, the year ended unexpectedly with a surplus of 13.54 billion soms, according to budget execution data.
