Kyrgyzstan pays off record amount of debt in 2022

At the end of 2022, 33 billion 606 million soms (or $392 million) were allocated to pay the public debt of Kyrgyzstan (external and internal), the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan quotes Economist.kg.

The largest volume of payments fell on external debt - 22 billion 113 million soms. This is a record figure in the history of Kyrgyzstan. Payments on domestic debt amounted to 11 billion 493 million soms.

"The public debt service was carried out from the republican budget," the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan says.

At the end of November 2022, the public debt of Kyrgyzstan amounted to $5 billion 349.8 million. In general, since the beginning of 2022, the public debt has increased by 4.1%, or by $213.07 million.
