As of 2025, Kyrgyzstan has officially registered reserves for more than 1,000 deposits of 51 types of mineral resources — ranging from gold and copper to coal and construction materials, according to data from the Ministry of Natural Resources, reports Economist.kg.

Around 400 deposits are currently being actively developed or explored, while about 600 sites remain temporarily suspended due to depleted reserves or the need for reassessment.

In 2024, the state enterprise Kyrgyzgeologia received 1 billion soms to modernize its equipment and advance projects for the extraction of polymetals and rare-earth elements, of which 72% of the funds have already been utilized.

The mining sector has shown solid growth in the first nine months of 2025. Tax revenues from mining companies reached 42.7 billion soms, up 16 billion from the previous year. Over the past five years, the industry has contributed more than 191 billion soms to the state budget.

Exploration activities have also yielded positive results, identifying new reserves of gold (5.8 tons), silver (3.7 tons), copper (6.4 thousand tons), and coal (9 million tons). The country’s total registered reserves include 973 tons of gold, 960 thousand tons of copper, and 1.1 thousand tons of silver, as well as significant amounts of coal, gypsum, marble, and other construction materials.

From January to September 2025, Kyrgyzstan produced 17 tons of gold, 198 thousand tons of oil, nearly 19 million cubic meters of natural gas, and 2.3 million tons of coal.

In addition, 26 subsoil auctions were held during the year, resulting in sales worth $1.6 million. Currently, the country has about 2,000 active mining licenses, 103 of which belong to state enterprises.
